UPDATE ON REUNION 2017 PLANS

Plans for the 2017 Reunion are coming together well. The location will be in the Litchfield Hills (Litchfield County) portion of CT, and this is the first time the DFA has held a reunion in this area. The reunion dates are Friday June 23 and Saturday June 24.As previously announced, the focus will be on prominent Dickinsons who lived in and around Litchfield, CT.Our main speaker on Saturday will be Alexander Dubois, Curator of Collections for the Litchfield Historical Society. He will tell us about the renowned miniature painter, Anson Dickinson. On Friday, from 11am to 5 pm, a substantial collection of Ansonís works will be on display at the LHS museum along with many other interesting items. That display will be open on Friday only.

We are hoping to offer a free guided tour of nearby historic Milton Village at 1pm on Friday. The LHS offers $7 public tours as well, which you can read about on their website:

The format for Friday evening will be similar to previous reunions, with an informal board meeting followed by a social hour and dinner.Exact times are being worked on.We are currently looking for the most suitable venue, possibly Black Rock Tavern and Restaurant, located in Thomaston, CT which borders Litchfield to the southeast.

On Saturday we will be at St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Goshen, CT which borders Litchfield to the north. The morning will start with coffee and muffins, time to view exhibits, items for sale, as well as time to meet and greet your cousins from near and far.We are hoping to have one or two short presentations by some of our members either before or after lunch, through which we can find out more about other Dickinsons who lived in the area. In the afternoon we will have the 147th annual meeting and our main speaker.

More details may be found in the January 2017 Newsletter. The final schedule will appear in the April Newsletter and mailing that will include a reservation form.We hope to see a good turnout for this very historic event!

Correction to Fall 2016 Preview:In the recently posted preview it was stated erroneously that our vice president, Ken Dickinson, was born in Litchfield.Ken has clarified that he is from the Boston area, however his grandfather was raised in nearby Roxbury, CT and earlier direct ancestors resided in Litchfield, Cornwall, Sharon, and Canaan
