2026 DFA REUNION UPDATE
The Dickinson Memorial Library, on Route 63 Main St., is a short distance from I-91 (Northfield Exit). Misha Storm, Director of the Dickinson Memorial Library will hold a tour at 9AM on Saturday (115 Main St.). On Saturday our reunion will be held either in Northfield, MA or Winchester, NH. More details will follow in April.
I encourage everyone to schedule a multi-day vacation in the Northfield, MA/Winchester, NH area as there are several libraries and historical societies that contain information on our family heritage.
On Sunday, there is a scenic “heritage” river boat cruise along the CT river (Northfield Mountain Recreation & Environmental Center) and the beautiful 1864 Ashuelot Covered Bridge (Route 119) and adjacent Winchester Historical Society Museum/Ashuelot Rail Trail in Winchester, NH. You may consider visiting the larger communities of Greenfield, MA and Brattleboro, VT. Historic Deerfield, Turners Falls, Mount Monadnock, Cathedral of the Pines, and Keene, NH are also nearby attractions.

DICKINSON FAMILY ARCHIVES NEWS
The DFA family archive, consisting of approximately a dozen boxes of historical & genealogical related papers & files, was recently accepted by the Fitchburg Historical Society (FHS) located at 781 Main St. in downtown Fitchburg, MA. The FHS was selected by Executive Board for the appropriate archive space as the FHS was able to accept our collection “in full / as is” without the need to divide the collection amongst more than one facility. The FHS has a new museum that contains an extensive collection of Dickinson Family related items and has a dedicated “Dickinson Family” display room; therefore, we are building upon a strong existing collection of papers and physical objects that will be properly archived for future generations to enjoy. It also contains the original plans that architect H.M. Francis had designed for both the “Dickinson Memorial Library” in Northfield and the “Phoenix Building” in which the FHS is located.
Both buildings are significant and are listed on the “National Register of Historical Places” amongst other buildings that H.M. Francis designed including the “Dickinson Block” 1866 building located at 20 Elm St. which also houses the “Dickinson Business Center” located 332-344 Main St. After our archives are transported to Fitchburg, scheduled in March (TBD), it will be accessible to the general public (by appointment only) for research purposes in Spring 2026.
