DICKINSON FAMILY ASSOCIATION

RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE

MONOGRAPH SERIES

INTRODUCTION TO THE SERIES

At the 2008 Dickinson Family Association (DFA) reunion, President Alan Dickinson announced theformation of a Research and Publications Committee.  Members of the committee were Andrew Dickinson, Elizabeth Haydon Keithcart, and John Haydon.

During the following months a plan evolved for an initial series of publications.  These were to be short articles or monographs on the life and work of descendants of Nathaniel Dickinson, organized according to various disciplines or topics.  Subsequently, other topics related to the Dickinson Family Assocation were deemed acceptable for inclusion in this series.  The hope is that eventually these articles might be compiled in a single bound collection.

Contributions from members of the Dickinson Family Association were solicited at the 2008 meeting, and later in the newsletter and on the website.  Anyone interested is invited to submit an article to Elizabeth Keithcart by e-mail at keithcarte@yahoo.com or by postal mail to Elizabeth Keithcart, Benerd School of Education, University of the Pacific, 3601 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204.

INTRODUCTION TO THE FIRST TWO ARTICLES

The first publication in the series is a synopsis of a recently published dissertation by Elizabeth Keithcart, a member of the committee.  The second, by historian Alan Dickinson, is a compilation of annual meetings of the DFA with discussions of the founding of the association, the Dickinson coat of arms and the numbering of reunions.

These two monographs may be viewed online, or print versions of them may be ordered:
