Scholarship

The importance of education has been a recurring theme in the Dickinson family lines throughout the generations.  Nathaniel himself was one of the first trustees of Hopkins Academy in Hadley, Massachusetts.  Jonathan Dickinson was the founder and first president of Princeton University and Samuel Fowler Dickinson was instrumental in founding Amherst College and was its first treasurer.

Therefore it is most appropriate that one of the primary functions of the Dickinson Family Association is to recognize especially deserving undergraduate college students who are descendants of Nathaniel Dickinson.  Our scholarship program, based on merit, was instituted in 1984 and scholarships have been awarded annually since that time.

Usually the scholarships are given to first year college students, although current students may apply for their next undergraduate year.

Detailed information about the scholarship and an application form may be obtained from this web site.  Anyone interested in applying for the scholarship may complete the online application and submit to our Scholarship Committee by the specified deadline.
